A NOTE ABOUT MY POEM 'WHO ARE YOU?'

WHO ARE YOU?

DEAR FRIENDS,

Thank you for your response to my poem 'WHO ARE YOU?'

But going by your remarks, I think I've been unable to convey what I wanted to say.
This poem is not about introspection or self-searching. It is rather a proud answer of a girl to those who try to deride woman, treating her as someone inconsequential, a secondary citizen.
Here I want to assert the importance and greatness of woman, who is innocent like Juliet, exploited like Ophelia, abused and dishonoured like Desdemona, victimised like Harmione(Of Winter's Tale), and yet she self-righteously and calmly faces all such injustice and remains steadfast in her love. All these girls are the example of  the great forgiving soul, the greatest virtue of all. Shakespeare has celebrated the greatness of womanhood by creating these sublime heroines I am proud to be a heiress of all these women and so I think that I am made of them.
Hence, in the end, I retort to that taunting questioner, "I am all this, but what about you? Who are you?"

I request you to please read this poem in the light of the above explaination.

Thanking you,
ever yours,
PORTIA
